HSM Certificate program credit recognition
Recognition for Nova Scotia High Skills Major (HSM) Certificate program credits
At Saint Mary’s, we recognize that meaningful learning occurs in classrooms, workplaces, and communities alike. We know that students in the High Skills Major (HSM) demonstrate initiative, curiosity and professionalism, along with a commitment to extending learning beyond traditional academic requirements. Saint Mary’s recognizes the successful completion of any HSM Certificate program offered through any participating Nova Scotia high school. In recognition of the advanced knowledge, practical skills, and career-readiness competencies developed through these programs, students who enroll in any bachelor's degree at Saint Mary’s University will be awarded the equivalent of six elective credit hours for each completed HSM certificate, to a maximum of 12 elective credit hours.
Students who complete one of the five HSM certificates will be eligible for credit (ELEC 19XX) toward an undergraduate degree program: Arts, Digital Innovation and Technology, Early Childhood Education, Health and Wellness and Skilled Trades.
