Meet the Coaching Team
Hey there, I'm Carlos! I’m a fourth-year student studying Astrophysics (Science). I was born in the UK, but because of my parents' jobs, I had to move from country to country until we finally settled in Canada. I listen to music pretty much daily. I also love video games and play them as often as I can. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the gym, and reading space non-fiction books. I hope to form meaningful connections and friendships and exchange stories with everyone!
Tip for Success: In university, it's all about your mindset. Don’t let yourself get dragged down by your thoughts. Believe in your capabilities and you’ll go far for sure!

Hey everyone! My name is Charlie, and I will be finishing my Master of Business Administration program this year. I came to Halifax four years ago to play on the SMU varsity men’s hockey team and to complete my Bachelor of Commerce with a major in Accounting. Having lived in different provinces while playing hockey, I understand both the challenges and opportunities that come with moving to a new place. I hope to use those experiences to help other students navigate their own transitions and feel more comfortable. Outside of hockey and school, I enjoy reading, golfing, going to the gym, and listening to music. I am excited to meet you!
Tip for Success: Reducing negative self-talk can be just as impactful as trying to be more positive. Remember, we are all just doing our best!

Hello, my name is Helena! I am a third-year Ancient Studies and English student, with a minor in Archeology and Material Culture. I was born and raised in France but moved to Canada when I was ten. I call Halifax home now and love the city! I love watching movies (especially Ryan Gosling movies: my favorite is Project Hail Mary!) and going to the movie theatre late at night. I also love acting and theatre and am very active in the Halifax theatre scene. To relax, I love hanging out with my cat with a YouTube video and some crafts. I cannot wait to meet all of you and offer you all the support I can!
Tip for Success: Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to breathe! Rest is just as important as studying or socializing.

Hi everyone, I'm Lindy! I am a fifth-year student finishing a double major in Criminology and Psychology along with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. I am originally from Newmarket, Ontario, but over the past five years, I have been lucky to call Halifax home. Throughout my time at SMU, I have played on the women's soccer team and spent one year competing on the track and field team. When I'm not on the field or in class, I enjoy going to the gym, rock climbing, spending time with friends, and finding a good café. I love staying active and trying new things, and I am looking forward to getting to know everyone!
Tip for Success: Challenges are part of the journey—keep going, trust yourself, and remember that improvement is always possible.

Hello, I’m Lyra! I’m a fifth-year Science student with a major in Environmental Science. I’m from a small town in northern British Columbia, but I now have a second home in Halifax. I enjoy being outdoors, especially in the mountains, and I love exploring new places. When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels, writing short stories, and designing cosplays for my favorite characters. You can often find me enjoying a chai latte at my favourite coffee shop or rock climbing at the gym. I can’t wait to meet you all!
Tip for Success: Learn about the on-campus supports available to you and the people who can help you access them!

Hi, everyone! My name is Naomi; I am a fourth-year Arts Psychology student with a minor in Criminology. I am originally from Nigeria, but Halifax is now home. I love spending most of my free time alone, watching movies (either romance, comedy, or psychological). My favorite psychological movie is A Monster Calls. Additionally, I love colouring, reading, acting, dancing, spending time with family/friends, and learning languages. I am currently trying to learn French. I love meeting new people, and I’m excited to get to know you all! What you can expect from me is good vibes, tons of support, and an open book when it comes to all things university.
Tip for Success: Ask for help as soon as you realize you’re struggling, prioritize sleep, and meet your Academic Advisors early.

Hi, everyone! My name is Wendy, I am a third-year accounting student. I am originally from Kenya and moved to Halifax to pursue a degree in Commerce at Saint Mary’s University. I love spending most of my free time watching movies, listening to music, reading, dancing, spending time with family/friends and exploring the city. I also enjoy meeting new people and learning about their experiences. I am looking forward to connecting with you and supporting you throughout your university journey!
Tip for Success: Remember that progress is more important than perfection. Focus on learning and growing rather than getting everything right the first time.
